Get ready to embark on a heart-warming and hilarious adventure through the swamp and beyond - filled with music, laughter, love and ogre-sized fun!

“Once upon a time, there was a little ogre named Shrek...” And thus begins the tale of an unlikely hero who finds himself on a life-changing journey alongside a wisecracking Donkey and a feisty Princess who resists her rescue. 

Throw in a short-tempered bad guy, a cookie with an attitude and over a dozen other fairy tale misfits - plus a fearsome dragon to defeat - and you've got the kind of situation that calls for a real hero. 

Luckily, there's one on hand... and his name is Shrek.

Packed with spectacular sets, colourful costumes and beloved songs including “I’m A Believer”, “Big Bright Beautiful World”, “Freak Flag” and “I Know It’s Today”, this feel-good musical extravaganza from Derby Youth Musical Theatre brings the magic of the much-loved DreamWorks film to life on stage at Derby Theatre in September 2026.

 

The show will run for six performances, from Thursday 17th to Sunday 20th September 2026.

 

Tickets will go on sale from April 2026.
